The side note:
It’s been an interesting few months.
We set out on what has become quite an adventure to rebuild our website and bring it into the current age of technology, modern appeal, user friendliness and SEO optimization.
I built our old website myself over ten years ago with very limited knowledge and having never done any web developing before. While a little scruffy our old site has served us very well and somehow by more arse than class, time has shown, I did get a few things right.
When starting this project, I thought myself quite knowledgeable and “in the loop” in as far as web function and technology goes. I mean, how far could this field have progressed in ten years? I read all the tech articles I can. Boy was I in for a shock!
I’ve always been of the opinion that most similar-industry websites, really miss the mark. Yes the graphics, layout and all is beautiful and so professional with lots of bling, but it’s so hard to find what you want. Especially when you don’t know the industry jargon, technical terms or real name for the products you are looking for. Add an inexperienced buyer and there is no chance of retaining an audience.
Thus, I concluded that never mind how good a web developer is, someone with a very deep understanding of the industry, products and potential customer’s needs, is required to make a massive contribution.
With what we know was right on our old site and what we thought was possible, we hired a highly competent web designer and a SEO expert to start.
We supplied huge volumes of content and the best description of how it should be done. What came back was surprisingly really amazing, but it still really needed that industry touch.
After a crash course in modern web design programs and plugins, I buried my head deep into working on what was handed over. Many long days and late nights followed. Our digital marketing manager Dee took on massive amounts of data capturing. Linsey our internal sales manager took on the product pricing for the online store. A bigger group of Santek team members, took on new product pictures and videos. And our management team disturbed and disrupted everyone at Santek by pushing them “kicking and screaming” out of their comfort zone and into the digital age.
After two and a half months of tiresome work, I am so proud to launch this living and still work-in-progress project for my Santek family to build on. It has by far exceeded our original expectations and improves with each person’s input each day.
The layout, pictures and presentation of our products with relevant information and safety data, combined with our state of art AI search function and our easy-to-use diverse online store are going to make navigating and finding exactly what you want a pleasure.
Along the way I have learnt so much. Never did I expect to have built this amazing high-tech marketing, sales, communication, information, operations and social tool.
We now have a website that is worthy of representing the high-quality products we produce and sell.
The back-end tools will help streamline our processes and make drastic improvements to our customer service and workflow.
Thank you to my Santek family for embracing the recent technology changes. I know it’s been a huge challenge.

AI Word/Image/Sketch Search function
Our powerful revolutionary AI powered Image and Sketch search bar function is a first in our industry.
Often both buyers and users know exactly what the product they want looks like but do not know the industry jargon or terms to describe it.
This powerful advanced AI search bar in addition to normal word search functionality will allow you to upload an image or make a sketch of the product you are looking for.
Click on the Search icon on the top or click the floating search button at the bottom right of any page of our website.
- Word Search: Click in the search bar and type the product name. Click “Search”.
- Image Search: Click on the camera icon. Follow instructions to upload a real time photo that you have taken or any relevant product image. Click “Search”.
- Sketch Search: Click on the sketch icon. Use the sketchpad to draw a basic sketch of the product you are looking for. Click “Search”.
Our powerful advanced AI will analyse your input image or sketch for shapes, textures and features and recommend several matches or the closest similar products from our store range.
Santek Online Account
With an online account, you will have access to a dashboard that will give you control over your account details, passwords, past orders, delivery address, billing address and Affiliate dashboard.
You will have access to all our downloadable content including Catalogues, MSD Sheets, Product videos, BEE certificates and Product pages.
You will also have full access to our full library of blogs, technical articles and application hints.
If you have a 30day credit, distributor, reseller, wholesaler, retailer or industrial bulk user account with us, your discount structure will be pre-loaded and you will be able to order directly from our store. For our reseller customers, you will also have live access to your prices and our list (suggested market price) in real time.
As a subscriber to our mailing list and newsletter, you will have access to regular product coupon specials and promotions. As well as kept up to date with developments and technical advancements both at Santek and in our industry.
Non 30day credit account users, will be eligible for a 15% discount on their first online order if they signup. This will not apply if you access our website via an Affiliate Coupon link.
Register an Account
At the top of the any page on our website, click on the Account icon .
In the “Register” section, enter your email address and Subscribe to our newsletter. A password for future access will be emailed to you. Please keep it safe.
You will now be directed to your Account Dashboard. From here you will be able to view and track your recent orders, manage your account details and password and edit your shipping and billing address. You will also be able to register and access your Affiliate Membership dashboard.
Please complete or update your Account Details and add your Addresses. If you are buying as or on behalf of a company, please type the company name in the “Display Name” field.
If you have registered as a company and have a 30day credit account with us. Please send an email to sales@santekabrasives.co.za to let us know once you have registered. We will then make your current discount structure apply to your online store purchases.
Login problem or lost Username/Password
On the login screen click on “Lost your password”? You will be directed to a new screen where you will need to enter your Username or Email address. An email with reset instructions will be sent to your registered email address.
Alternatively or in the case were you do not remember your Username and Email address or if your email address has changed. Please send us an email to online@santekabrasives.co.za or call our team at +27 11 815 6258 to fix it on our side.
Affiliate Program Membership
Earn commissions for directing customers to our website and online store.
If you are an Industrial rep, influencer, YouTuber, Social Media personality, relevant association organization or anyone directly or indirectly connected to our industry or field of business, an Affiliate membership is an easy way to quickly earn some extra money.
Once registered, we will be able to create Affiliate discount coupons for you to offer or gift to potential customers. For example, less X% off their purchases, paying you a X% commission.
From your Affiliate dashboard,
- You will be able to view your coupon or coupons performance by monthly statistics.
- Generate referral URL links, short links and QR codes for potential customers to link to our site.
- Monitor in real time what commissions are due to you.
- Arrange and schedule Payouts.
Once a potential customer uses one of your assigned coupons to access our website, register an account and make a purchase. Depending on the coupon rules this customer could continue to get the offered discount on all their future purchases.
